Start of subsidy scheme for water taps at schools

From 19 September, primary schools can indicate whether they wish to make use of the subsidy scheme for the purchase and maintenance of a water tap on the school grounds. Around 450 schools can make use of the scheme, which consists of a contribution covering 75% of the costs, up to a maximum of €2,000 per school location. The scheme begins with a registration of interest, and allocation criteria will apply in the event of oversubscription.

Working together with parents to ensure their children get enough physical activity leads to healthier, better-performing pupils. Where previously the school and parents acted separately to encourage children to be physically active, we are increasingly moving towards advisory services 3.0. Children need to exercise and play more sports in public spaces

The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) is looking for (physical) solutions/concepts to make exercising and playing sports in public spaces even easier, more enjoyable and better. Specifically for the youngest among us. The average number of hours a child spends playing has fallen dramatically over the past 30 years, from 15,000 to 1,700 hours in 2015. That is not good news, because childhood obesity is increasing and motor skills are declining. Initiatives can be submitted until 27 May at 17:00.
