During the interactive Workshop on Risky Play, you will gain (new) insights and practical tips about risky play that you can immediately put into practice in your own group, team or organisation!
In the past, it was quite normal for children to climb trees, play in secret places or race their scooters along the pavement out of sight of their parents. Nowadays, this happens much less, not least because we want to protect children from every form of risk. However, overprotecting children can actually mean that they no longer learn how to deal with risks (in other words, develop risk competence), causing their motor skills to deteriorate.
In risky play, children engage in exciting, challenging and adventurous activities that involve a risk of (minor) injury. This is good for developing children's risk competence; as a result, they become more physically capable, more self-confident and more sociable. More and more organisations are working on incorporating the theme of risky play within their organisations.
