Young people’s questions about coronavirus

Published Mar 25, 2021

Teachers and other education professionals regularly receive questions from young people about coronavirus. For example: why is the lockdown being extended if infections are declining? And: why are young people not yet allowed to get vaccinated? Find answers to frequently asked questions from young people here. The Netherlands Youth Institute decided to create a useful FAQ.

Young people’s questions about coronavirus

The FAQ addresses the following questions:

  • Why are secondary schools and vocational schools now allowed to reopen?
  • Why do young people have to keep their distance at school, but not outside school?
  • Why is there a curfew?
  • Why does it feel as though this lockdown is lasting so long?
  • Why are you allowed to meet up with a maximum of one friend outside?
  • Why do young people sometimes appear in the news so negatively?
  • Why don’t measures take effect immediately?
  • Why don’t we create herd immunity among young people?
  • Why is there a temporary coronavirus law?
  • Why don’t people always comply with the measures?
