In one – interactive – overview, the Sport and Physical Activity Voting Guide shows you what each political party promises, clearly grouped into relevant thematic areas from the National Sports Agreement and related domains. It also becomes clear which parties devote more or less attention to these themes, both in absolute and relative terms.
How does the Sport and Physical Activity Voting Guide work?
In the Sport and Physical Activity Voting Guide, you can use filters to search for exactly those topics and parties that are relevant to your work.
The Voting Guide consists of two parts: at the top, you will see the ‘overall picture’, showing the attention devoted to sport and physical activity in absolute and relative terms.
Below that is a second interactive infographic providing greater depth on the content. In the bullet view, you can (on a desktop) move your mouse over the bullets to see the text. In the ‘text’ view, the complete texts can be read. The number of dots at the top of this thematic area indicates how many topics the party in question has ‘scored’ on. Some texts appear under two thematic areas.
- Use the ‘filter’ button to indicate which parties you want to see.
- Use the ‘sort’ button (far right) to arrange the order according to the amount of attention devoted to a specific thematic area.
- Use the ‘collapse/expand’ button (far right) to hide or display themes that are more or less important to you.
Initially, the political parties are listed in alphabetical order. Due to the large number of parties and topics, it is not possible to get an overview at a glance. You can do so, for example, by expanding just one theme and selecting which parties you do or do not want to include in your comparison.
How was the Sport and Physical Activity Voting Guide created?
The research was conducted by R|B research agency for sport and well-being on behalf of the Knowledge Centre for Sport & Physical Activity. Foster created the data visualisation.
The Voting Guide includes only the political parties that are currently represented in the Dutch House of Representatives as a party and/or through an individual member: there are 15 of the 37 parties registered with the Electoral Council in total.
