Urban sports are about more than just a skate park. In this webinar, you will discover how the diversity of sports, different cultures and needs can be successfully combined, based on a practical example from the municipality of Nijmegen. Froukje Smits (Utrecht University of Applied Sciences) then explains how to use participation, and together with Daryl Then from the municipality of Nijmegen and Nine Yards Skateparks, Design and Build Urban Sports Parks, we discuss the tension between policy and implementation using several concrete examples. Finally, we discuss challenges such as inclusivity (girls, people with disabilities) and long-term processes.

The school playground is a golden opportunity for a dynamic school day. But how can you make optimal use of it? During this webinar, Mirka Janssen (Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences) explains the importance of outdoor play and encouraging physical activity on the school playground. Using concrete examples, we will take you through the challenges involved in designing the school playground and organising and supervising activities that encourage physical activity there. Rob Heidenreich (director of ’t Lichtpunt), Nick Keijser (physical education teacher), Steven Mauw (PLAYgrounds) and Bastiaan Goedhart (Alles in beweging) will join the discussion. They will provide concrete guidance on how to take the first step towards a school playground that encourages physical activity.

How to involve children with motor skill delays

Children with motor skill delays are less active than their peers, both at sports clubs, during physical education classes and when playing outdoors in the neighbourhood. Would you like to know what you can do to involve and motivate them?

During this session, our specialist in physical activity behaviour, Hilde Krajenbrink, shares the latest research insights on children with motor skill delays. You will gain insight into what we know about their participation in sports and physical activity. Bert Steenbergen (Radboud University) and Johannes Noordstar (Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital), among others, will then use case studies of children with motor skill delays to discuss how to motivate and involve them during physical activity programmes and how to ensure that everyone has a good time.
