1 Urban sports in your municipality: freerunning or well-trodden paths?
Did you know that urban sports are the most popular sport among 36% of young people aged 5–18 in Amsterdam during the summer? And that they rank second in winter, at 20%? Yet the world of urban sports is relatively unknown. This webinar helped change that.
While Jeroen Hoyng (Knowledge Centre for Sport & Exercise) began by discussing the areas of tension between urban athletes and policymakers, the panelists Sander Baartmans (Urban Creator at CityLegends), Jeroen van Eggermond (founder of Nine Yards Skateparks) and Froukje Smits (senior researcher at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences) bridged the gap to practice. From areas of tension and advocacy to inclusivity, safety, participation, programming and activation: everything was covered.

2 The schoolyard: a golden opportunity for a dynamic school day
The schoolyard is a golden opportunity for a dynamic school day. But how can you make optimal use of it? During this webinar, Mirka Janssen (Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences) spoke about the importance of outdoor play and encouraging physical activity in the schoolyard. The webinar guided participants through concrete examples and challenges in designing the schoolyard and in organising and supervising activities that encourage exercise in the schoolyard. Rob Heidenreich (director of ’t Lichtpunt), Nick Keijser (physical education teacher), Steven Mauw (PLAYgrounds) and Bastiaan Goedhart (Alles in beweging) also joined the panel. They provided practical guidance on how to take the first step towards a schoolyard that encourages physical activity.
