Well-being at school, a matter for both education and the municipality

The webinar Well-being at school, a matter for both education and the municipality is intended for everyone working within the municipality on the mental health of young people. Civil servants from the social domain, youth services, prevention, education and health are very welcome, as are education professionals and the organisations working with young people, welfare services, the Municipal Public Health Service (GGD), youth healthcare, youth care and neighbourhood and district teams.

Well-being forms the foundation

Health inequalities are increasing, as is inequality of opportunity. If we want to turn the tide, we must work together: education, support services and the municipality. And we must start early. Because children and young people spend a great deal of time at school, this is an excellent starting point. Schools know what is going on among young people. Their well-being at school forms an important foundation for a happier life.

Focusing on well-being has a preventive effect

Well-being at school has a positive and preventive effect. It can reduce health inequalities. It can also ease the pressure on youth care services and reduce school dropout. Above all, it ensures that more children and young people feel good about themselves. As a result, it helps children to develop their abilities more fully. This has positive consequences for their future and for society as a whole. By joining forces, municipalities and schools can work together to promote well-being at school.

The webinar on 3 June

The webinar, organised by Pharos, the Centre of Expertise on Health Inequalities and the Trimbos Institute on 3 June from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., will focus on the importance of collaboration in the field of well-being and share success factors. Various schools and municipalities will share their experiences. It promises to be an interesting and inspiring meeting, especially in light of the additional resources that the national government is making available to municipalities and education.

Series of webinars on well-being

This year, Pharos and Trimbos are organising a series of webinars on ‘well-being at school’, with the aim of inspiring municipalities and education professionals. The central question throughout is how municipalities can work together on this theme. On 27 March, the premiere ‘Well-being at Stanislascollege vmbo Delft’ took place, a week later there was a workshop at the Healthy School Congress, and a third webinar is scheduled for the autumn, when learning groups will also start to further deepen their knowledge. The webinar on 3 June is aimed primarily at municipal civil servants and other partners outside education, and offers inspiration for working with schools to promote the well-being of children and young people within a municipality.
