Most Sportive VSO School

Two schools were nominated for Most Sportive VSO School. In addition to De Twijn, these were Kristallis Aventurijn Nijmegen. The VSO jury was impressed by the way the child is placed at the center at VSO De Twijn. The school strives to bring out the best in each child in the field of sport, taking their limitations into account but above all focusing on opportunities. There is broad support for physical activity and sport throughout the school.

De Twijn won a two-day watersports experience at Robinson Crusoë Island, Loosdrecht, worth €2500, offered by Menzis. Sports hall equipment suppliers Bosan, Nijha and Janssen-Fritsen also offered the winner a voucher worth €2000. They awarded the runner-up €1500.

In 2018, De Aventurijn from Almere became the first Most Sportive VSO School in the Netherlands.

Most Sportive Secondary School

Three schools were nominated for Most Sportive Secondary School. In addition to Calandlyceum Amsterdam, these were ’t Atrium Amersfoort and Montessori College Nijmegen. The jury was particularly impressed by Calandlyceum’s vision of sport and physical activity: sport is ideally suited to discovering what you can achieve. Caland has succeeded in giving the connection and involvement of all students in sport a central place in the school, including during the coronavirus pandemic. The jury believes that the promising Caland Sports Academy will receive an extra boost from winning this award as of next school year.

Calandlyceum Amsterdam won a voucher worth €4500. The other two nominated schools each received a voucher worth €1500. The vouchers were provided by Bosan, Janssen-Fritsen and Nijha.

In 2018, Christelijk Lyceum Veenendaal was named Most Sportive Secondary School.

Award ceremony

The awards ceremony took place during a central online presentation from a specially equipped KVLO studio in Zeist. At the participating schools themselves, a sports program was organized for the students. Beforehand, the jury visited the schools to assess how they met the criteria. It also held discussions with students, the principal and physical education teachers. This was recorded in a filmed report. The schools gave the jury members an extensive tour, allowing them to ask the physical education department, school management and students a wide range of questions.
