Students who enjoy going to school and sit in the classroom with confidence. That is what every education professional would most like to see. Experience shows that students are only able to learn when they feel safe and are feeling good.
National Education Programme
Through the National Education Programme, schools receive additional funding to improve education during and after the coronavirus pandemic. The support focuses, among other things, on interventions that can improve students’ well-being and social-emotional development.
The funds from the NPO are available for primary education, secondary education, secondary vocational education (MBO) and higher education.
Healthy School
The PO-Raad considers it important for schools to pay attention to students’ social-emotional well-being. The Healthy School programme encourages schools to work on a healthy lifestyle, with well-being as an important theme. The Healthy School approach addresses children’s well-being in various places in and around the school. This maximises the likelihood of lasting behavioural change. Schools can earn the Well-being theme certificate by participating.
School & Safety
Stichting School & Veiligheid supports and encourages schools in promoting a socially safe climate, improving social behaviour, and preventing and addressing transgressive and undesirable behaviour.
Suicide prevention
New forms of suicide prevention are needed in education. This is stated in the National Agenda for Suicide Prevention 2021–2025, which was co-signed by the PO-Raad. The PO-Raad wants to help ensure that children and/or young people with suicidal thoughts and/or behaviour are identified earlier and referred for help more quickly. Together with 45 other organisations from the fields of education, healthcare and the socio-economic sector, the PO-Raad wants to remove the taboo surrounding suicidal thoughts by training, further educating and equipping professionals.
