Joline van Lier, Health Promotion Officer and Healthy School adviser and the driving force behind this initiative: “We look back on a successful meeting. Three model schools explained how they promote the well-being of their pupils and the challenges they face. Experts by experience also spoke about attention to child abuse and every child’s right to well-being and health at school. It was very valuable for policy officials to hear these stories, particularly about the role the school plays in supporting children who are abused at home and how to discuss this with one another.”

The follow-up to the learning community consists of one or more local meetings in the municipalities participating in the Well-being (Refugee Children) at School project. Joline: “At the next local learning community, we want to inspire even more schools and partners to work together and share knowledge and experiences. We also want to discuss challenges and issues. This will enable the Healthy School advisers from the participating municipalities to provide more tailored support.”
