In 2022, the School & Community programme was launched to increase opportunities for children and young people. The grant programme provides schools with support to offer their students additional extracurricular activities in areas such as sports, culture, cognitive development and social development. Schools for primary, special primary and secondary education work together with municipalities and local organisations for this purpose.
The upcoming grant period runs from 1 August 2025 through 31 July 2028. Schools that register during the third application round can offer additional activities in the 2025–2026, 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 school years.
Which schools are eligible?
Schools that had a positive educational disadvantage score or CUMI score on 1 February 2024 (primary and specialised education) or 1 October 2022 (secondary and practical education) are eligible for this grant.
Changes to the School & Community grant scheme 2025–2028
The grant scheme for the 2025–2028 period differs from the previous rounds in several respects. One important change is that schools are no longer required to report the number of participants; they only need to report the number of clock hours. It is also no longer mandatory to increase the number of clock hours in the second school year. In addition, schools will receive more funding per student, and small schools will receive additional compensation for fixed costs. Previously, a distinction was made between category A and category B schools, but this distinction has been removed. During the previous round, category B schools were able to apply for a grant for the first time, and this time they will therefore receive more support than before.
