The theme ‘Respect’ connects with current developments in society. It emphasises the importance of equality, healthy relationships and an environment in which bullying and (sexual) transgressive behaviour have no place.

During Spring Fever Week, children learn what respectful behaviour is and how to treat each other respectfully, helping them to recognise and respect each other’s boundaries more effectively. In doing so, together we lay the foundation for a safer society. If we teach children now that boys and girls are equal, that everyone may be themselves and that you must respect another person’s no, they will carry this with them throughout the rest of their lives. Ultimately, this contributes to the prevention of sexually transgressive behaviour and violence.

‘Respect’ Guide

A guide has been developed to help teachers make the theme ‘Respect’ a topic for discussion. In the Respect Guide, you can read why attention to respectful interaction in the classroom is important. You will also gain insight into how small acts of disrespectful behaviour can lead to bigger problems, such as inequality and (online) sexually transgressive behaviour.

Through practical tips, you will learn how to promote respectful standards in your classroom and respond appropriately to disrespectful behaviour. With this guide, respectful interaction becomes the norm and part of everyday classroom practice.

The guide will be available here from 2 March 2026.
