3,000 participating schools
Approximately 3,000 schools can participate. If the number of registrations exceeds the maximum capacity, a draw will take place. Schools that were not selected in last year's draw are guaranteed participation if they register.
The programme runs from the week of 15 November (week 46) through the week of 18 April (week 16). During this period, the fruit is delivered on Mondays or Tuesdays.
From 20 to 40 weeks of School Fruit
The EU School Fruit and Vegetable Programme lasts 20 weeks. The ultimate goal is for eating vegetables and fruit during the morning break at school to become the norm.
Does your school already have one or more fixed vegetable and fruit days? Preferably choose all five school days. This provides clarity for children, parents and teachers. For more information, see step 1 of the step-by-step plan.
Getting started with food education
One of the conditions for participating in the EU School Fruit Programme is that each class must receive at least the EU School Fruit introductory lesson and one short lesson activity. These lesson materials can be found free of charge on the free Chef! lesson portal and are also available outside the programme.
