EU School Fruit and Vegetables Programme
What is the EU School Fruit and Vegetables Programme?
The aim of the EU School Fruit and Vegetables Programme is to encourage children to eat more fruit and vegetables and teach them healthy eating habits. Through EU School Fruit, schools receive three portions of fruit and vegetables for all pupils for twenty weeks. Completely free of charge, thanks to funding from the European Union. Teachers also get started with food education using the Chef! educational portal. Schools are also encouraged to establish regular fruit and vegetable days at school, or to have more of them. This way, eating fruit and vegetables at school becomes a habit.
Tasty, healthy and educational!
With EU School Fruit, eating fruit and vegetables at school is not only tasty and healthy, but educational too! Education is a standard part of the programme. Through the free Chef! educational portal, schools gain access to various teaching materials, activities and excursions about healthy nutrition. These teaching materials enable pupils to learn more interactively about the importance of healthy nutrition and the role of fruit and vegetables in a healthy diet. This not only encourages them to eat more healthily, but also teaches them why this is so important for their bodies and health.
Regular fruit and vegetable days at school
At EU School Fruit, we aim to inspire children to eat more fruit and vegetables not only during the delivery period, but throughout the entire school year. Teachers receive tips and inspiration for establishing regular fruit and vegetable days at school. In addition, wijkiezengroenteenfruit.nu offers a useful step-by-step plan and various materials to support schools in setting up or expanding a school fruit policy. Together, we can ensure that healthy nutrition has a permanent place at school!
