An important starting point is that, from 11 May until 2 June, physical education lessons should preferably be held outdoors. If no suitable outdoor facility is available, or if this is undesirable (for example, in special education), only moderately intensive activities will be provided in an indoor facility (gymnasium/playroom).
Three important documents are now available
Protocol for reopening physical education
In the Protocol for reopening physical education, the KVLO advises on procedures for physical education. This covers both the provision of physical education and how to act in the event of possible cases of illness.
Frequently asked questions about physical education in primary and special education after 11 May 2020
The questions in this document concern physical education in mainstream and special primary education. Different guidelines sometimes apply to special education; these are explicitly identified for each question.
Learning trajectories indoors and outdoors; tips and advice for physical education in primary and special education in accordance with RIVM guidelines
This document contains two appendices. Appendix 1 lists possible physical activities in outdoor spaces in accordance with the guidelines for primary education. Appendix 2 lists possible physical activities in the gymnasium/playroom according to the learning trajectories in primary education. Appendix 2 includes the recommendation to offer activities involving moderately intensive exercise. In both appendices, the activities that cannot take place are indicated in red. At the end, there are also some general practical tips.
