The programme consists of an introductory lesson (in the classroom), a visit to the arable farmer and a concluding lesson activity (in the classroom). The pupils learn about soil, growing crops, machinery, crop protection, nutrition and health, and the preparation of arable crops. In this way, pupils actively discover where their food comes from and how arable farming contributes to this.
There are three guides available:
- For teachers of groups 5–6 and teachers of groups 7–8: This guide describes what you, as a teacher, need to do before visiting the arable farmer. The guide contains tips on finding and coordinating with an arable farmer, as well as a preparatory lesson about soil. It also contains suggestions for concluding lesson activities.
- For arable farmers: The guide for arable farmers helps you prepare for a group visit. It includes a sample lesson plan, suggestions for assignments on the farm and teaching tips.
The guides are useful in the classroom, on the arable farm or while preparing for the visit. Order the printed guide here and get started well prepared with an introduction between pupils and arable farming.
