Pupils from grades 7 and 8 at De Agnesschool, ’t Kasteel, De Minstreel, De Tandem and De Torenuil took part in the project. At the five primary schools, a youth jury from Stichting Pulse selected the five designs that advanced to the ‘final’:

  • Nikki Blok was the winner from De Torenuil
  • Noëlle Settels was the winner from De Agnesschool
  • Floortje Duijsters was the winner from De Minstreel
  • Jinte van de Kant was the winner from De Tandem
  • Mohamed Albrawabrah was the winner from ’t Kasteel

The director of the Lung Fund and alderwoman for Public Health Eveline Schell selected the best design from the five finalists. It was Mohamed Albrawabrah’s design from ’t Kasteel.

During the project, the children were guided by Francien Hoving and Hedy Vermeer from KunstIsVerbinden. They learned how social media and the tobacco industry influence people and how they can use influence themselves to help create a nicotine-free generation, which they will hopefully belong to themselves.

The more than 160 submitted drawings can be viewed in the foyer of IJsselstein Town Hall (Overtoom 1, IJsselstein) until Friday, 28 November. The exhibition is free to visit during IJsselstein Town Hall’s opening hours.
