ANWB Traffic Square

Children are particularly vulnerable in traffic. To participate safely in traffic, children need to learn how to cycle properly. In practice, this means covering a lot of miles. To enable children from groups 1 through 8 to safely practise different traffic situations, ANWB has developed a traffic square. This allows them to gain experience at school under the supervision of their teacher.

More aware of traffic in a safe environment

“A traffic square makes pupils aware of traffic in a safe way and helps them become more confident. And they do not have to do this in the busy, confusing traffic around the school,” says Laura Moesbergen, a member of the parents’ council. Children from the adjacent residential neighbourhoods can also use the traffic square.

ANWB Fund

The campaign is an initiative of the ANWB Fund. In each province, one school playground is transformed into an ANWB Traffic Square. In total, nearly 300 schools from across the Netherlands registered for this campaign, and 100,000 people cast their votes.
