Target group

Children aged 9 to 14 from mainstream education who have little cognitive self-confidence, little social initiative or little social autonomy.

Approach

The students go to a Playing for Success learning center at a special location, such as a stadium or a theater. The condition is that the location has a space set up as a learning center, with good multimedia facilities, and that role models, such as athletes and actors, are regularly present. Children learn through challenging yet achievable assignments in a motivational environment. They give presentations, conduct interviews, reflect and work together under the guidance of a qualified teacher and interns.

The program focuses on experiencing positive learning experiences. Children work on their social-emotional development in a non-school setting within the world of top-level sports or theater. The aim is for them to strengthen their emotional and social skills so that these contribute to a successful school career.

Time commitment

The Playing for Success program consists of one 2.5-hour lesson per week for the students, over a period of ten weeks. The participating educational organization must support the program for at least three years.
