The KVLO is the professional association for physical education teachers and instructors, as well as education and sports coordinators. In addition, the KVLO is the knowledge center in the field of physical activity and sport in and around schools.

Physical Education Day is intended for KVLO members and other stakeholders in professional education. The focus of the conference is presenting new (scientific) knowledge about learning to move well, under the heading ‘Young and skilled: enthusiasm for movement!’. Physical Education Day 2019 is an excellent opportunity to inform the professional community about new insights and practical knowledge through a presentation or thematic sessions.

With the theme Young and skilled, the KVLO is building on the Sports Agreement launched last year, which municipalities will also be working on this year. Keynote speakers Kristine De Martelaer and Richard Bailey will also discuss this subject.

As an endowed professor for the KVLO and universities of applied sciences, Kristine De Martelaer will shed light on the current state of research into physical education.

Richard Bailey is a scientific adviser to UNESCO and the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE). In the Netherlands, he is known, among other things, for translating the Human Capital Model into the context of physical activity and physical education. His research emphasizes that there is a strong connection between movement skills, enjoyment, motivation and continued participation in physical activity and sport. In short, the more skilled you are, the more enthusiasm you have for movement!
