Explanation
How do you involve parents in the topic of nutrition at school? Several studies have shown that food interventions at schools are more effective when parents are involved. There are various ways to do this. Parents can be informed, for example, through a newsletter or lecture. They can also be actively involved in the intervention. One example is an assignment they carry out together with their children. These activities can take place both at home and at school.
This year, Wageningen University & Research started a research project for the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality on parental involvement in food programmes and initiatives at primary schools. A literature review has provided insight into the different forms of parental involvement. But what is effective, feasible and desirable in which situation or context? To answer this question, WUR is looking for teachers and parents who would like to share their experiences with food interventions at school—involving parents—in an online group discussion.
