Educational programmes and teaching and study materials should pay more attention to discrimination and racism. In cooperation with publishers, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) is investigating how stereotyping in teaching materials can be prevented. The requirements for the subject of citizenship will also be adjusted, with more attention to respect for one another and cultural diversity.

Increasing equal opportunities

A pupil's personal characteristics currently play too great a role in the school recommendation. To increase equal opportunities, schools will inform parents about the procedure concerning the school recommendation from the next school year. A new assessment framework will help teachers adjust the school recommendation. To increase teachers' objectivity, the ministry encourages them to determine the school recommendation together with the teaching team.

Internship discrimination

This autumn, OCW will conclude an Internship Pact with businesses and secondary vocational education institutions, in which tackling internship discrimination will have a place. Research is also under way into how internship matching can help improve equal opportunities for internships.
