The following schools have been nominated:
- Campus 013 (Tilburg)
- Da Vinci College Lammerschans (Leiden)
- Kiem Montessori (Amsterdam)
- Stanislas Beweeg vmbo-mavo (Rijswijk)
The schools competing for the title are model schools when it comes to creating inspiring physical activity policies. They offer an innovative or outstanding range of sports and physical activities. In this way, they encourage their pre-vocational secondary education students to develop an active and healthy lifestyle. Naturally, this offering is embedded in the school policy. The participating schools, of course, hold the Physical Activity and Sports theme certificate of the Healthy School quality mark.
Special pre-vocational secondary education edition
This year, a special pre-vocational secondary education edition has been chosen because these students often lag behind other young people in secondary education in terms of sports and physical activity behaviour. The organisers are therefore looking for model schools that make a difference specifically for this target group.
Final of the election on 19 April 2023
On 19 April, the nominated schools will compete for the title of ‘Most Sportive Secondary School in the Netherlands 2023’ at Zuiderpark Sports Campus in The Hague. On this festive day, all nominated schools will present their school in a video, and the students will give a stage presentation for everyone present. This will be followed by a sports programme for the students and, ultimately, the awards ceremony. This final day is being organised simultaneously with KVLO’s national conference, allowing the nominated schools to share their inspiring stories with sports and physical activity professionals, fellow schools, students, sports policy officials and other interested parties.
The process leading up to the final
Before the awards ceremony on 19 April, the jury will visit the nominated schools. They will be given a tour and will ask questions of the school management, physical education teachers, other staff members and three students from the school.
Prizes
The prizes, in the form of vouchers worth a total of €11,000, have been provided by the three major suppliers of sports and games equipment in the Netherlands: Bosan Sport, Janssen-Fritsen and Nijha.
