Education professionals are required to use the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Reporting Code when they suspect child abuse. As of 1 January 2019, the reporting code has been improved and strengthened. The reporting code is intended as a guide and as a tool for taking steps together and making decisions.

The Team Learning Conversation Guide is intended for internal support coordinators, support coordinators and designated safeguarding leads in primary and secondary education. The guide provides tools for holding a conversation with the team about how to act when domestic violence or child abuse is suspected.

The reporting code provides a decision-making framework that enables education professionals to determine whether reporting to Veilig Thuis is necessary and whether it is possible to provide assistance. The brochure ‘Recognising child abuse and tackling it together’ takes readers through the reporting code step by step and includes tips on how the reporting code can be incorporated into the school’s support structure.
