Since 2002, KVLO has organised the election of the Most Sporting Secondary School in the Netherlands together with NOC*NSF every two years. Since 2018, there has also been an election for the Most Sporting Special Secondary School in the Netherlands. The aim of these elections is to recognise schools and departments that offer an exceptionally good or innovative programme of physical activity and sport for their students. In addition, the organisers are happy to give these schools a platform to inspire other schools.
In 2018, Christelijk Lyceum Veenendaal (photo above) was the most sporting secondary school, while Aventurijn from Almere (photo below) was the first most sporting special secondary school. Process leading up to the final
- Email the registration form to [email protected] before 1 February 2020
- By 14 February 2020 at the latest, the nomination committee will announce which four secondary schools will be invited to attend the national final day with a group of 32 students, and which three special secondary schools will be invited to attend the national final day with a group of up to 24 students in the 13–15 age category.
One of the jury members will conduct an audit/visit at each nominated secondary and special secondary school to gain a broad impression of the school’s practice.
During the final on 15 April 2020, the school management, a physical education teacher and a student will be questioned by the expert jury about the school’s physical activity and sports programme. Meanwhile, the students will be offered a number of attractive clinics. This day is organised in close cooperation with the sports education programmes in The Hague and the municipality of The Hague.
Does your school consider physical activity and sport important? Is there a clear vision on physical activity and sport? Is attention paid to both sporty and less sporty/active students, and are there more sports activities at school than just physical education lessons? Then register!
