Who is it for?

The Knowledge Base is for all parents of a child with care needs. Because a child with care needs demands a great deal from you as a parent. Of course, your child is also the most wonderful and sweetest child in the whole world—that is no different for you than for other parents. But the challenges you face can sometimes be quite substantial. Whether it concerns support or care for your child, combining care and work, or your social support network where you can ask questions and share experiences.

Why?

As a parent, you are suddenly released into the world of care, agencies and regulations, and this world often seems like an impenetrable jungle. The Knowledge Base helps you find your way through it. Here you will find all kinds of information about having a child with a (physical or intellectual) disability, a chronic illness or developmental problems.

How?

The Knowledge Base is divided into seven different themes:

  • Family & Relationships
  • Growing up
  • Education
  • Leisure time
  • Work
  • Independent living
  • Care

When you move your mouse over the themes, you will see the topics related to that theme. The information behind these topics is continually supplemented and expanded.

Education

Finding suitable childcare or a school that meets your child's needs can be quite a challenge. For example, what options are available when your child is unable to receive any education at all? Or when your child temporarily does not attend school because they are too ill? We describe various options under this topic.
