Recently, Gelukskoffer launched the Happiness Guide for Grade 8, together with Anton Philips (creator of the Motivation Compass). The Happiness Guide gives pupils tools to prepare for secondary education. The pupils actively get to work on questions such as ‘What am I good at?’, ‘What do I dream of?’, ‘How do I learn?’, ‘What are my core values?’, and ‘What do I enjoy?’. In this way, they learn to understand themselves and make their own choices.

Clara den Boer, a psychologist and business administrator, develops and provides leadership training in the corporate sector. When her eldest son was in Grade 7, she realised how valuable it would be if children learned about personal leadership, what makes them happy, and who they are at an earlier age. That happiness should be a subject at school, just like language and mathematics. Together with Anke Appel-den Boer, she began developing the Gelukskoffer program ten years ago with teams of children, psychologists, teachers, and school administrators, based on positive psychology. Gelukskoffer has since become a school-wide program that has reached more than 30,000 children.
The Gelukskoffer is based on seven lessons in happiness:
- What is Happiness?
- Positive thinking,
- Gratitude,
- Talents,
- Self-confidence,
- Dreams for the future,
- Passing on happiness.
