Information about sowing and harvesting
Have you received the vegetable garden seeds? Then it is time to sow!
- The seeds can be sown from mid-March onwards.
- Use potting soil to grow the seeds, not cotton wool. Cotton wool only works for cress, which germinates and grows quickly.
Origin of the seeds
The seeds in the package are a natural product. They have been propagated with respect for nature, are free from pesticides, and no techniques covered by the term genetic modification were used in their development.
Conditions
- Only primary schools and schools for special education can request a vegetable garden package.
- One vegetable garden package may be requested per teacher (the seeds can also be shared with other groups).
- The registered teacher teaches a lesson from the Vegetable Garden Taste Mission via the Chef! teaching portal.
- If the teacher does not yet have an account on the Chef! teaching portal, they must create an account (free of charge).
- The registered teacher will receive information about the Vegetable Garden Taste Mission by email.
What is the Vegetable Garden Taste Mission?
In this interactive lesson module, students in Years 1 to 4 help the gardener; together, they embark on a Taste Mission! The students get to work themselves and discover all kinds of things about the vegetable garden, plants and creatures. In between, they report on the growth of the plants via the interactive whiteboard.
The Vegetable Garden Taste Mission can be found on the online Chef! teaching portal. Log in to Chef! or create a free account via www.voedseleducatie.nl and go to Offer - Lesson programmes - Vegetable Garden Taste Mission.
