A day full of sporting activities
The sports day took place at ONB Drachten and was organised in two parts to welcome more than 550 pupils. The first group of pupils participated from 09:00 to 11:00, followed by the second group from 11:30 to 13:30. All activities were divided across four fields, with five different activities on each field. The pupils could take part in a wide range of sports, including rugby, athletics, football, golf, pico, acrogym, boot camp, archery and kickboxing.
Parties involved and collaboration
Various sports and cultural providers played an essential role in the success of the day. Organisations such as SportAnders, ONB, Rugbyclub Drachten, AV Impala, Lionitas, AnyTime Golf, RechtOp Kracht, Seerden Sport, Handboogsport Friesland/Drachtster Pijl, Fitaal Drachten, Freezzstudio Karam, Max Krijthe and Niek Tiemersma contributed to giving the pupils an unforgettable day. Their involvement demonstrated the power of collaboration within the community.
Preparing for the future
Samen Kansrijk represents a unique collaboration between five schools and four school boards, which currently still provide special (primary) education separately in Drachten. From 2025, they will continue together in one building. This merger requires thorough preparation so that, both now and in the future, they can provide their pupils with even better specialised primary education. The sports day was an important step in this process, involving the following schools:
- SO Saffier – cluster 4 | children with behavioural problems.
- SO Kleurryk – cluster 3 | children with intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
- SBO Sjalom – children with learning difficulties and/or behavioural problems.
- SBO it Heechhof – children with learning difficulties and/or behavioural problems.
- Kentalis de Skelp – cluster 2 | children with a language development disorder who need additional support in the area of communication.
A day full of fun and connection
The sports day was a great success, thanks in part to the efforts of all the parties involved. Through sport and play, pupils and teachers were brought together in an accessible way, contributing to a strong community and a positive transition to the merger in 2025.
