This brochure, ‘The reporting code for child abuse and domestic violence in practice’, was compiled based on questions and responses we have received from pedagogical staff, host parents and safeguarding officers. The eight-page brochure is particularly suitable for discussing with all staff/host parents and for refreshing their knowledge of the reporting code and the assessment framework. Employees in childcare are required to work with the reporting code whenever there is cause to do so.

The brochure addresses frequently asked questions from childcare professionals:

  • High-conflict divorces and emotional neglect
  • Sharing concerns about children
  • Contacting Veilig Thuis when there are suspicions
  • The ‘parent check’
  • Parents’ privacy and reporting without parental consent
  • Discussing anonymous cases with Veilig Thuis
  • Talking to parents (including four tips)
  • Acute and structural unsafe situations and disclosure
  • The assessment framework illustrated (diagram), with explanation
  • The reporting code app
