Community sports coaches and culture coaches are indispensable to our ambitions (National Sports Agreement/Prevention Agreement) to get children moving more and introduce them to culture. After all, the more than 6,000 coaches (83 percent in sports and physical activity and 17 percent in arts and culture) work with schools in virtually all municipalities – both during and outside school hours. They teach independently, prepare lesson packages and advise teachers and school leaders. They often go the extra mile to involve children from disadvantaged backgrounds through sport, but also specifically through cultural activities.
Community sports coaches and culture coaches thus connect sport, play, culture and school – throughout the Netherlands, and for all children and young people. In this magazine – featuring a foreword by Arie Slob, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education and Media – you will find a collection of inspiring examples of how community sports and culture coaches work and how they succeed in making sport, physical activity and culture possible and, above all, enjoyable for everyone. Be inspired by the examples and share them with one another!
The magazine is of interest to all parties involved in the Broad Scheme for Combination Functions at an administrative, policymaking or operational level.
