Lunchboxes could be healthier
The schools have started again! During this ‘back-to-school’ period, it is time once again to show that lunchboxes can be filled in a much healthier way. At present, they are often still too unhealthy. The ‘Lunchbox without Junk’ campaign motivates parents and caregivers to give children healthy food and drinks to take to school. Children who eat and drink healthily feel better, have more energy and can perform better at school. The website www.trommelzonderrommel.nl and the brochure contain tips to help parents and caregivers provide children with a well-filled, healthy lunchbox, even when they are busy or have a limited budget. The campaign was developed by GGD Zuid-Holland Zuid in cooperation with the Netherlands Nutrition Centre, Jong JGZ, JOGG Zuid-Holland Zuid and GGD West-Brabant. The campaign has since been adopted nationwide.
Students from the Don Bosco School in Dordrecht
Students from the Don Bosco School in Dordrecht voluntarily served as models for the photos used for the website www.trommelzonderrommel.nl, brochure, flyer and posters. As a thank-you, alderman Marc Merx presented the first copies of the brochure on Wednesday, 28 August, to the students featured on the cover and to the school’s principal. He also joined them for a healthy snack break: "It is good for children to grow up in an environment that encourages exercise and where attention is paid to healthy nutrition. Healthy nutrition makes you strong and not overweight, allowing you to move and play comfortably. Moreover, you feel much better. Choosing healthy nutrition is certainly not always easy, but it should become so, and we need to help each other in this. I think it is very good that the students from the Don Bosco School are taking the lead in this. With this campaign, they are setting a good example!"
