Description
This is a workshop that is given at school with a group of your own composition. This can be during a meeting or for example during a study day. These workshops last about two and a half hours.
In technical learning to read, it is about the brain being able to smoothly link letters to sounds. This provides letter knowledge. After learning the letters, the letters are combined into words and later into entire sentences. First, one practices with monosyllabic words. This is gradually expanded to multisyllabic words. Spelling is in fact the opposite of technical reading. Here, a sound must be converted into a letter.
Enjoying Reading is Important!
At school, technical reading is often tested with the three-minute test (DMT). When a child's technical reading falters, it is very frustrating. This frustration is noticeable every day because a lot of reading is done at school. It can even be the case that when the reading process falters in class, discipline problems arise. The subjects of history, geography and more subject areas are simply not fun if you cannot read fluently. Reading scores increase significantly when technical reading is focused on.
There are various interventions that you can use as a school. During this team training we will discuss and practice various interventions and various working methods. These are classroom interventions but also individual interventions or for small groups.
These are interventions that should be in every teacher's bag. For example, think of reading Ralfi. We will discuss the theory of each intervention and then we will practice briefly so that it sticks as well as possible for the teacher.
Reading Development & Motor Skills
We also consider the question of how we can promote reading development by using motor skills. What is the influence of both hemispheres of our brain on learning to read? How do we use memory? And how can we stimulate this? We provide practical exercises that can be done with the class the next day.
This workshop/training is ideal for a group of teachers who want to get started with technical reading and who want to be sure that the scores go up. During this training we make small excursions to offer it in a fun way. Not all interventions are boring and dry.
Reading fast is beautiful, but reading well is even more beautiful.
