Elementary school Workshop | Student Participation

Not available

Make students co-owners and designers of your arts and culture education.

Student participation is the input of students in education. By giving students input, your student feels more ownership of his, her or their education. Through more self-confidence, your student learns to give an opinion and to respect that of others. Participation is based on equality.

At CultuurSchakel you can receive customized support in the area of student participation. This can be as a one-off workshop or in a longer trajectory.

Contents

Within the workshop(s) you and the student focus on various themes such as vision, programme or collaboration partners. The students are given substantive baggage so that they can think along about these themes and can be a discussion partner with both ICC staff and management as well as external artists and collaboration partners.

Vision: determine together what you consider important for the school's cultural education and include this in the creation of the school/cultural plan.
Programme: give the student a say in the choices of the cultural programme for, for example, Vonk activities (cultural visit/Do-activity/Artist in the Classroom), art disciplines or VSD/BSO activities.
Collaborations: let the student participate in decisions about collaborations with cultural institutions and providers.
In the process you can, for example, focus on:
Strengthening art education including support, the connection with citizenship education
and developing and anchoring student participation.

Practical Information

We offer the following options:
A one-time workshop of 1.5 hours;
A trajectory of 3 workshops of 1.5 hours;
Customised in a different form, for example as an incentive for a student council.
Time investment and planning of the trajectory depend on the chosen intensity.

Guidance for student participation is suitable for schools where a student council is already present, and for schools where there is no student council (yet), but where there is a desire to do more about student participation.

There are no costs associated with this trajectory. Conditions for participation are motivation, involvement and commitment of the teacher.
