Differentiation in the Classroom Workshop
Students are most motivated and they achieve the best learning results when they are presented with the teaching material in a way that suits them as best as possible. This requires the teacher to offer the teaching material in a differentiated manner. There are many ways to differentiate. However, many teachers are reluctant to do this because they assume that differentiation takes too much time. Nevertheless, differentiated teaching can also save a lot of time. because it leads to a higher learning outcome.
During the workshop, several ways to differentiate are reviewed and each is practiced using our own teaching materials so that what has been learned can be immediately applied in practice. An effective but simple way of differentiation, for example, is to differentiate at learning level. The basic material is first covered, after which a formative test follows on the basis of which the student must either repeat or enrich before being given the classroom summative test. Another very effective way of differentiating is differentiating at the thinking level according to Bloom's taxonomy. Participants learn to ask a question at six different levels, where the student must remember, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate, or create something.
