Jamie Gregory is a National Board Certified Teacher in Library Media and currently works as a high school librarian and journalism/newspaper teacher. She is the 2022 South Carolina School Librarian of the Year, the recipient of the 2022 IFRT Eli M. Oboler Memorial Award, a 2022 Library Journal Mover & Shaker, the 2022 News Literacy Project Alan C. Educators in today’s world are well aware of the importance of media and news literacy but may feel overwhelmed, intimidated, or even unsupported when contemplating how to incorporate these concepts into their classrooms. School librarians are prepared to advocate for such instruction, but the ever-evolving information landscape may make such instruction a daunting undertaking. Join us for this webinar, where librarian and teacher Jamie Gregory gives tips on how to navigate that changing landscape.

In This Webinar, You Will Learn:

- How to identify which media and news literacy skills are quickly becoming the “new basics.”
- How to avoid accusations of bias or indoctrination by addressing these skills.
- How to reach students of various grade and ability levels.
- How media and news literacy directly supports students’ intellectual freedom rights.
- How school librarians can support the classroom teachers in media and news literacy instruction.
- Specific lesson plan ideas for school librarians and classroom teachers to embed media and news literacy skills into instruction.
