Facilitators

1. Adem Ruggiero-Cakir is the Young Carers Project Officer at Carers Trust. Adem leads the Young Carers in Schools programme, a free initiative jointly run by Carers Trust and The Children’s Society that makes it as easy as possible for schools to support young carers and awards good practice. Adem joined Carers Trust in 2018 and has worked on various projects that support young and young adult carers.

2. Anne-Marie Johnstone is the Young Carers Service Coordinator for Carers Northumberland, who cover the whole of Northumberland and support young carers up to the age of 18. The service was funded around 2 years ago, no young carers support service was available in Northumberland prior to this, they now have almost 350 young people ranging between 5 and 18 registered with them. Anne-Marie has been running the SPARK Resilience programme to support young carers’ resilience this year.

3. Liz Bowles is the Project Manager at international children’s mental health charity, Partnership for Children (PfC). Liz oversees teacher training in PfC’s Skills for Life programmes and runs PfC’s funded young carers project, working with young carers services around the UK. Before joining Partnership for Children in 2019, Liz gained 9 years of experience in secondary school teaching and health coaching. Aimed at those working in schools, during this webinar, speakers outlined some of the simple ideas and resources that schools can use to support the wellbeing and resilience of young carers including the Young Carers in Schools Award and the Skills for Life programmes.
