Description

"Leading an Attachment Aware Schools Programme: The Local Authority Experience of Supporting a Nurturing Learning Community". Since 2014, Derbyshire Virtual School has worked with 87 local schools to develop their own attachment-aware approach based around extensive training for key staff and the implementation of bespoke small-scale action research projects in every participating school. The focus is on whole-school development to address the needs of vulnerable learners, including children in care. Lizzie Watt, Assistant Head at Derbyshire Virtual School, talks about how the programme has been conceived and delivered over the last six years, discussing the elements that make it successful and the impact that they have seen for schools and young people.
