Thomas R. Guskey
Dr. Thomas R. Guskey is Professor Emeritus at the University of Kentucky’s College of Education and a leading expert in educational measurement, evaluation, and professional development. A graduate of the University of Chicago's MESA program, he began his career as a middle school teacher, later becoming an administrator and founding director of the Center for the Improvement of Teaching and Learning. He has authored or edited 27 books and over 300 scholarly articles featured in prestigious journals and educational publications such as Educational Leadership and Kappan.
Dr. Guskey has played a key role in shaping national education policy, serving on the National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future and contributing to the development of National Standards for Professional Development. He has received numerous honors, including Fellow status in the American Educational Research Association and awards from Learning Forward and Phi Delta Kappa. Notably, he is one of only three alumni to be both honored as an Outstanding Alumnus and inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Thiel College. His recent books focus on grading, feedback, and mastery learning, reflecting his continued influence on education reform.
