Betty Garcia-Hill is the Global Education Technologist at HP. With 18 years of experience in K12 public education, she brings insights and value to the worldwide K12 Education team and EDU portfolio. She served in multiple campus-based roles in the Houston Independent Schools District including working as a bilingual teacher, Campus Education Technologist, and Instructional Specialist, leading project-based learning, and integrated instructional technology in urban, highly diverse, and at-risk populations. As an e-transformation leader, she was responsible for the integration and implementation of multiple assessment platforms and large-scale online assessments for 215k students. She was instrumental in launching the HISD @ Home initiative during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping transition the 7th largest district in the U.S. to online instruction and assessment.
Nick Schiner
Director of Peer-to-peer Professional Learning, Digital Promise
Nick Schiner is the Director of Peer-to-Peer Professional Learning at Digital Promise, a global non-profit shaping the future of learning and advancing equitable education systems. On a daily basis, he connects and collaborates with innovative educators, researchers, and industry partners to rethink what education can and should be, particularly for our most historically and systematically excluded learners. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Towson University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from Johns Hopkins University.
Michael Martirano
Senior Fellow, Center for Digital Education
Dr. Michael J. Martirano is a Senior Fellow for the Center for Digital Government. He is a seasoned educational leader, serving over 40 years in the public education sector. He has served as a science and math teacher, a principal and assistant principal at the elementary, middle and high school levels, a central office administrator, a local superintendent in two counties in the state of Maryland and as the state superintendent of schools for the great state of West Virginia.
