THE PO Healthy sleep is the basis of everyone's mental and physical health. In addition, healthy sleep in childhood lays the foundation for solid overall sleep health throughout life. Sleep problems take their revenge in the classroom, among other things. Visible and noticeable behavioral, learning, and concentration problems do not always occur traced to underlying sleep problems. This training will change that. Duration: 2 hours including a short break (can be adjusted in consultation)
Learning Objectives:
- You know some basics of healthy children's sleep.
- You have knowledge about the consequences of sleep deprivation and stress. (Consider behavioral concentration, motivation and performance problems).
- You have tools to better notice these signals.
- You have practical tools to deal with this in the classroom and to discuss it with the child himself and with the parents/guardians.
- You know the ways and means to help children with sleeping problems.
Program for the break:
- Introduction; why sleep and stress as a theme?
- How do you recognize sleep deprivation and stress in students? What do you see in the classroom?
- What are the stressors at school?
- The physiological aspects of stress and too little sleep. What happens in the brain?
- What are the stressors at home?
Program after the break:
- How can you improve behavior in the classroom? Which tools can you use?
- We show a number of tools and do exercises.
- Sustainable commitment in your classroom, how do you approach that?
- Mindfulness in the classroom, example from Iceland
- In conversation with parents; conversation form.
