Setting Boundaries
Teachers have a job in which they multitask a lot. Working together with students, colleagues, and parents takes up a lot of time. What if there is a peak: everything happens at the same time and the teacher experiences work pressure?
The most important step is to set boundaries. Especially when the other person insists from a certain interest or strong emotion, it is difficult for the teacher to say no. But how can the teacher still set boundaries without losing sight of the other person's interest?
In this training, the teacher gains insight into what different situations evoke in him and how to deal with them. How does the teacher indicate to a colleague that an extra task is not appropriate now, but will be in two weeks? How does the teacher indicate to an aggressive parent what that reaction evokes and how can they then come to a solution? By setting boundaries in an appropriate way, the other person feels recognized, the other person knows what he can count on, the teacher guards his own boundaries and this results in less work pressure.
In addition to the theoretical framework, setting boundaries is practiced. This is done with both short and long improvisation work forms in which all participants are involved. The teacher also brings in his own case studies during this training. This makes the training both active and personalized.
