Course Overview
This training and drug education program is designed to educate all Educators in detailed curriculum that addresses the Mission of L.E.A.D. and its efforts to serve school districts through the United States.
L.E.A.D recognizes that to serve Schools Districts, they need to ensure all educators are given the most current drug information, substance abuse prevention skills training, and resources in these challenging times. The ON THE STREET-EDUCATOR Program is a nice enhancement to the IN THE CLASSROOM Program. Participation in this ON THE STREET-EDUCATOR Program does not require participation in the IN THE CLASSROOM. However, school-districts not participating in the IN THE CLASSROOM component are encouraged to participate in this ON THE STREET-EDUCATOR Program to see firsthand the resources and services that they have developed for L.E.A.D. Schools. Having the most effective tested and proven K-12 school-based curricula and drug education program is another great service for future consideration for your district.
Mission
The provider will provide the leadership, resources, substance abuse prevention skills training, and management to ensure schools have the means to partner with law enforcement agencies, community leaders, and families by providing proven and effective programs to deter youth and adults from drug use, drug related crimes, bullying and violence. They are committed to reinforcing the mutual respect, goodwill, and relations between agencies in their communities.
Goals
The major training goals of OTS-EDUCATOR are to:
• provide accurate information as a drug education program regarding the consequences of psychoactive substance use, bullying and violence particularly for children and adolescents,
• demonstrate that the fields of prevention science and police science provide the bases for the prevention and amelioration of these issues through evidence-based programming,
• underscore the role of L.E.A.D. in being the vehicle through which this knowledge can be implemented through community-based programming.
The training is delivered in four modules:
