High IQ What Now?
Students with high IQs have different developmental and learning needs. With proper approach and guidance, problems of underachievement, fear of failure, and motivation can be prevented. Teachers must therefore be alert to the signs of these students. This is a challenge for many teachers; there is still much unknown when it comes to giftedness in children.
This training explains how gifted and talented children can be recognized and what the teacher can do to guide these children better. In addition, the teacher gains insight into which behavior gifted children can exhibit.
By means of a theoretical framework, the specific development and needs of the group of gifted and talented students are explained. Here we do not focus on the students who 'always score 1+ on the Cito' and have a good attitude to work, but rather on the children who stand out in behavior and attitude to work. We explain why they have developed that attitude and how this can change.
After the theory, there is time for a practical part. In this part of the training, teachers are put on a simple way to create a good program for students. This is done by compacting the regular curriculum, providing enrichment, deepening and broadening, and making a schedule. Materials brought along are explained and tried out.
