Description
This Grade 1 Social Studies unit focuses on time, continuity, and change through the context of agriculture and history in the British Virgin Islands (BVI). Students explore the origins of local crops and their cultural connections, observe and document changes in a garden over time, and learn about historical agricultural practices through a field trip experience. The unit develops understanding of timelines, cultural heritage, and how past events—such as farming traditions and slavery—connect to present-day life, while engaging students in observation, discussion, and simple recording activities.
