Description

The Charge Your Brainzzz lesson package is a sleep education intervention developed in 2017 by the Dutch Brain Foundation (Hersenstichting) in collaboration with Chrono@work, and classified by RIVM/CGL as a well-described program that contributes to a Healthy School (Gezonde School). It targets second and third-year biology students in vmbo-t, havo, and vwo education levels and consists of three 45-minute lessons. The teaching materials include a teacher's manual, four animations, printable worksheets, background information for students, and a concluding quiz. The program teaches students about the importance of healthy sleep for physical and mental health, as well as the negative effects of sleep deprivation. Additionally, the role of the biological clock and light exposure in sleep patterns is explained, and students are encouraged to reflect on and improve their own sleep behavior.
