Fit With Your Screen!

Fit with your Screen! is a lesson program for children in the upper grades of (special) primary education.

Children learn in a playful way all about healthy behavior around screen use, such as a good balance between screen time and exercise time, while also paying attention to posture.

Following the success of the program for grades 5-6 (a certified Healthy School intervention), there's now a version for grades 7-8 ! We're looking for enthusiastic teachers to test it in their classrooms.

The program was developed in co-creation by experts (exercise, physio and occupational therapists), teachers, parents and of course the children themselves.

Pit Family

The lesson program is designed in a cheerful cartoon style and revolves around the Family Pit .

Hey hey, we're the Pit Family! We have heads like pits and leaves like hair – those leaves show how we're doing. If they're fresh and upright, we're doing well. If they're drooping, it's time for some extra pit power!

Every family member has their own way of dealing with screens. In a positive, relatable, and humorous way, they guide children through situations related to screen time, posture, and movement. This way, students discover for themselves how to make choices that are good for their bodies.

The head as a seed is a metaphor for the seed we want to plant in young children so that they grow up to be healthy adults.

What They Learn

In the curriculum we pay attention to:
• Smart screen use – children learn to find the balance between screen time and exercise time.
• Move more , even during class – teachers get access to the Wieblie platform with 500+ Moving Learning lessons and 3000+ assignment cards.
• Preventing physical complaints – small habits now make a big difference later.
• Posture – no stiff “sit up straight!” message, but smart tips and variation.
• Parents are given a mirror by their children with assignments to do at home.

Without telling children how things should be or what is good or bad, we let children think for themselves and reflect on recognizable situations with fun assignments.

Test Panel

We're looking for teachers in grades 7-8 of primary education who want to test the curriculum. This means:
• Attendance at an online introduction on Wednesday, September 17, 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM
• Try out the program (4 lessons) in your class sometime in the period up to mid-November (scheduled by yourself)
• Each lesson lasts approximately 30 minutes
