Description

Engaging students in hands-on learning, the Kindergarten Engineering Design unit is a supplementary resource that enhances understanding of the Disciplinary Core Ideas of Engineering Practices. It aligns with the Kindergarten Earth and Space Sciences curriculum, allowing students to explore how the shape of an object influences its function. After experiencing the tale of The Three Little Pigs, students work in groups to design and build a house for the pigs. They learn to relate the stability and shape of structures to their intended functions. Each lesson comes with an overview and links to relevant NGSS Performance Expectations.
