Welcome to Yellowhammer History Hunt!

Yellowhammer History Hunt is a video series that takes students on a journey through Alabama’s past, exploring the places and people that define Alabama today. From archaeological sites to airfields, each episode features a selected site and shows why it is an important part of Alabama and American history.

Lesson Summary
Each site resource includes a video, discussion questions, Alabama Course of Study Standards and site overview guides for educators, and cross-curricular activities for students. All student and teacher support materials meet PDF accessibility guidelines.

Each video includes a hidden treasure—an artifact or object that helps tell the story of its site. Clues about the treasure can be found in the video. Hidden treasure maps that include all sites are available to be printed and used in your classroom.

Each video is available in English, Spanish and descriptive audio versions. Captions and transcripts are also available for each version.

Incorporate these resources into your lesson plans or create an entire lesson around a site. This digital series is aligned with Alabama State Department of Education Standards for 4th graders learning about state history but may also be useful for both older and younger students.
