Lesson Idea | Team Challenges

The Team Challenges unit is a series of lessons designed to help students strengthen their social relationships, cooperation, problem-solving, and sportsmanship through active, team-based games. Students participate in activities that promote respect, teamwork, communication, inclusion, and critical thinking while also practicing safe and responsible play. The unit includes icebreakers, group problem-solving challenges, strategy games, and a culminating project where students design their own team challenge. It is intended for use in physical education settings, particularly within Special Olympics Unified PE programs, and is best suited for upper elementary and middle school students, providing meaningful, safe, and engaging opportunities for all learners to practice teamwork and leadership.
